The church of St. Mary was rededicated in 1259, although the present building is largely 15th century. It consists of a chancel, nave, north aisle, porch and rough cast west tower. The church was heavily restored in 1872.
There is an interesting wall tablet to the memory of Michael Loam, of the parish, who invented the man-engine to enable miners to avoid long ladder climbs in the mines.
