The parish of Boyton appears in Domesday under it’s present name and the Church was Dedicated to St. Mary in 1259. It was originally built as a chapel in 1288 but was rebuilt with the addition of the tower in 1350.
It currently consists of a nave, chancel, south aisle and west tower of 3 stages, there is an ancient piscine in the chancel. The font, which possibly dates back to the late saxon period, is evidence of the existence of a far earlier church on this site.
Among other items of interest are the memorial to William Symons, benefactor of the church who in 1694 paid £100 towards the rebuilding of the Church tower, as well as the 18th century organ case.
